STEELBOND
Contact Adhesive

Product Description

STEELBOND (1)

STEELBOND Contact Adhesive is a solvent based Chloroprene adhesive that is a multi-purpose single component air drying Polychloroprene rubber-based adhesive, suitably formulated for bonding diverse types of substrates.

It has excellent green strength and bonds rapidly due to its fast crystallization rate. This is a high solid, medium viscosity contact adhesive and hence it is suitable as a multi-purpose contact adhesive which may be used to bond substrates like leather & footwear, wood, wood laminates, linoleum, carpets, canvas, MDF laminates, veneer, floor coverings, felt and cork, amongst many other materials.

It has excellent adhesiveness to common substrates and can be used in the furniture, leather & footwear industries, general household & industrial maintenance and DIY use.

After drying, glue line is resistant to heat, moisture and exhibits good low temperature flexibility.

Directions For Use

SURFACE PREPARATION: Ensure both surfaces are free of dust, oil or water. Slightly roughen both surfaces. Thoroughly mix the adhesive before application.  and apply STEELBOND with a brush evenly to both surfaces.

APPLICATION TEMPERATURE: For best results, the temperature of the adhesive and surfaces to be bonded should be at least 18°C. If stored below -1°C, warm-up to room temperature in a warm room only (do not exceed 49°C) followed by thorough agitation.

DRYING TIME: Allow adhesive to dry for 10 – 15 minutes and then press the surfaces together under pressure for few minutes until a firm bond is formed. High humidity will slow drying-high temperatures speed the drying. This adhesive has a bonding range of approximately 30 minutes when applied to both bond surfaces under conditions of 21°C and 35% R.H. If the adhesive becomes too dry, apply another thin coat of adhesive to one surface, allow to become slightly tacky, and bond. The bond attains full strength after 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING:

STEELBOND Contact Adhesive is a solvent based adhesive and all the precautions applicable to a solvent-based product must be necessarily undertaken while handling. Avoid inhaling vapours and contact with skin and eyes. Handle in well-ventilated areas. Store at room temperature in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children. Shake container before use. Keep container airtight to prevent solvent loss.
