steelbond wood glue information

Directions For Use

Surfaces to be bonded must be clean and dry. In particular, wood must be properly conditioned before use. W1978 must be applied to the surface in sufficient quantity to ensure that excess product is squeezed out of the joint after clamping. All excess should be wiped off the surface using a cloth rinsed in warm water. Joints may be repositioned within 10 minutes after bonding. W1978 is particularly suitable for joinery work on pine, chipboard and similar woods where clamping times in excess of 45 minutes are used. It is also suitable for dowel and tenon jointing, block gluing, laminating, finger jointing and veneering applications.

LIMITATIONS:

Not intended for exterior use where moisture is likely. Should NOT be used to adhere coated, synthetic or melamine woods. Not suitable for structural or load bearing applications, or where gap filling properties are required. Do not use when temperature, glue or materials are below 7⁰C.

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING:

Water based adhesives are LOW HAZARD. Avoid contact with eyes & prolonged skin contact. Clean adhesive spills with sand and remove. Do not empty into drains, rivers etc.

STORAGE:

The glue should not be stored below 0⁰C or above 30⁰C.

To maximize the shelf life of the opened container, ensure that the packaging is closed to create an airtight environment when not in use. If packaging is left open for too long the glue will thicken and form a skin on the surface which can damage pumps and block filters.

SHELF LIFE:

6 Months when stored in the original sealed containers within a temperature range of 10⁰C – 25⁰C.
